Last checked: 2026-10-31

- Biggest one-stop store: Ktown4u COEX (Samseong Stn, Line 2). Many labels under one roof, plus a K-pop academy and pop-up floor.
- Label flagships: KWANGYA@SEOUL in Seongsu for SM artists. HYBE runs a rotating pop-up store in its Yongsan HQ lobby (booking on Weverse when announced).
- Easy tourist stops: Withmuu in Myeongdong, Hongdae (AK Plaza) and Yongsan I'Park Mall; Ktown4u in Insadong; Kyobo Book Centre Gwanghwamun for a calm backup.
- Closed, don't go: SMTOWN COEX Artium (closed 2020) and HYBE INSIGHT museum (closed January 2023).
- Bring your passport for tax-free shopping, and buy only from official or well-known stores to avoid fakes.

Notes by store
- Ktown4u COEX is on floors 2 to 4 of coex Artium. Ask the store about exchange and refund terms before you buy, and keep your receipt.
- KWANGYA@SEOUL is SM's flagship, run by its affiliate SM Brand Marketing and opened in November 2022. The public space is the B1 store. It closes on Seollal and Chuseok days, and other closures are posted on @kwangya_seoul.
- HYBE lobby pop-up opened in March 2026. The first was the BTS ARIRANG pop-up (March 20 - April 12, 2026) and it needed a Weverse booking. The space changes for each HYBE Music Group release. Schedules are posted on the HYBE MERCH X account and each artist's Weverse.
- Withmuu (run by Copan Global) lists five stores in Seoul on its official site. In October 2026 it was still posting concert merch sales and fan-sign events.
- Kyobo Gwanghwamun runs release photocard events, posted on its store notice page. One example was a hrtz.wav mini-album event in April 2026.
How album prices and benefits usually work
Album prices differ by version and package, so read the price tag in each store. Before you buy, know these terms:
- Versions: Many albums come in several versions with different covers or contents. "Random ver." means you can't choose which one you get.
- Inclusions: Photocards and other items packed inside are usually random. Fans trade duplicates.
- Store benefits (pre-order benefits, POB): Each store may add its own extra, such as an unreleased photocard set. Benefits are limited by period and quantity. Ktown4u's event pages, for example, say benefits can't be given once the event period ends. Some events give a full set of photocards to people who buy several albums.
- Fan-sign and lucky-draw entries: Some stores, Withmuu for example, run events for album buyers. You usually have to apply separately after buying, and every album has its own rules, so read the official notice first.
- Old or sold-out albums: Big multi-label stores are your best chance, but stock isn't guaranteed. Ask staff. Myeongdong and Hongdae also have many independent album and photocard trading shops. Stock and authenticity vary, so check carefully.
Tax refund
- Shop at stores that show a Tax Free sign and bring your passport.
- The minimum is generally 15,000 won per receipt.
- Immediate refund: At participating stores, you pay the price without tax if one purchase is under 1,000,000 won. Since 2024 the immediate-refund total is up to 5,000,000 won per trip.
- Otherwise, you can claim at a downtown refund counter or at the airport when you leave.
- Not every album shop is tax-free registered. Ask before you pay.
Shipping your haul home
- Korea Post EMS: You can send boxes abroad from a post office. Rates depend on zone and weight, and volumetric weight (L x W x H / 6,000) may apply. See the official EMS rate table.
- Batteries: Lightsticks and electronics can be restricted. Ask post office staff before you pack, and remove loose batteries.
- Buying online instead: Ktown4u ships worldwide for many items. Some event pages exclude certain countries, though. Check the product page before you order.
Scams and fake merch
- Buy lightsticks, photocards and plushies at official stores, agency stores, or the big stores listed above. Be wary of street stalls and very cheap "official" items.
- Don't send bank transfers to strangers on social media for photocards or "proxy" purchases. Use a platform with buyer protection, or meet in a busy public place.
- Keep receipts. They help with exchanges and tax refunds.
FAQ
Where can I buy K-pop albums cheaply in Seoul?
Prices differ by version and store benefits, so compare tags at two or three stores in the same area, such as Myeongdong or Hongdae. A cheaper album may come without the store benefit. Tax-free shopping also lowers the final price.
Is SMTOWN COEX Artium or HYBE INSIGHT still open?
No. SMTOWN COEX Artium closed in 2020 when its lease ended. HYBE INSIGHT closed in January 2023, and no reopening had been confirmed as of October 2026.
Can I visit the HYBE building?
The only public space is an announced pop-up (bookings are often on Weverse). Please don't wait outside for artists.
What else should K-pop fans (and BTS fans) visit in Seoul?
Try HiKR Ground near Jonggak Stn. It's a K-culture center with idol-style photo studios. Gwanghwamun Square is where BTS held their free ARIRANG comeback concert on March 21, 2026. If you have a day, the BTS bus stop at Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung is the cover location of YOU NEVER WALK ALONE. Please visit public places only, never private homes or dorms.
